Our founder rising from an economically disadvantaged background in the southern part of Nigeria to a distinguished Human Resources personnel at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is a testament to her resilience, compassion, and commitment to making a positive impact. Born and raised in Cross River State
Eno was faced with the challenges of assisting her parents while striving to pursue a primary education. Eno found herself engaged in various endeavours, such as hawking after school to assisting her mother in the preparation of Akara and Pap by the roadside.
Her primary school years were marked by financial struggles, but the tide turned when her family received the Udoji Award, providing her the opportunity to attend secondary school.
Eno completed her education at Yaba College of Technology and started her career at NNPC. After three decades of unwavering dedication and hard work, she retired as an Assistant Chief Officer (Consequence Management Officer) in the Human Resources department.
Motivated by her personal experiences and deep empathy for children facing challenges similar to hers, Eno Ekanem founded the Enommo Care Nest Initiative. This nonprofit organization, established with a heartfelt mission, aims to ensure that no child should endure the hardships she faced during her upbringing.
In 2011, Eno took a pivotal step by visiting an orphanage and was deeply moved by the living conditions of the children. This experience ignited a passion to address the widespread issue of insufficient amenities in orphanages. Eno committed herself to regular visits, actively working to identify and solve various problems faced by these vulnerable children. Since her first visit in 2011, several children have benefitted from Eno’s generosity. Beyond the yearly provision of food and essential household items, she had extended full scholarships to support their education. Presently, two beneficiaries have completed their studies and established families.
One attained a degree from a university in the United States of America, while the other graduated from the University of Port Harcourt. Eno Ekanem personally covered all expenses for their education. Beyond her commitment to Enommo Care Nest Initiative, Eno is a dedicated member of the Rotary organization, where she continues to contribute to community development and humanitarian causes.
Additionally, she serves as an ambassador of the International Human Rights Global, advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals globally. Eno Ekanem's story is one of triumph over adversity and a beacon of inspiration for those she seeks to serve through her nonprofit organization.
Her commitment to creating positive change in the lives of vulnerable children reflects a profound dedication to social responsibility and compassion. Through Enommo Care Nest Initiative, Eno strives to build a better future for children facing adversity, providing them with the support and opportunities they deserve.
We envisage a world where every child, regardless of circumstances, has access to the resources, care, and opportunities needed to thrive and reach their full potential.
Our mission is to empower vulnerable women and children with the tools and resources they need to break the cycle of poverty, build a brighter future, and contribute positively to their communities.
